Health Coverage Options
Public Marketplace (ACA, Obamacare)
Tailored for lower income or individuals with health conditions. All pre-existing conditions accepted. Tax subsidies available based on income. Typically offers EPO and HMO networks with in-state coverage and specialist referrals required.
Private Exchange
Insurance for lower-risk individuals offering health-based discounts. Like car insurance - healthier individuals pay less. Ideal for healthy, higher-income, or self-employed applicants as premiums can be deducted from Gross Income. Offers broader PPO networks.
Medicare
Medicare is a U.S. federal health insurance program primarily for people aged 65 and older, but it also covers some younger individuals with disabilities or specific conditions. It helps pay for hospital stays, medical services, and prescription drugs.
Understanding Network Types
HMO
Lower premiums, requires primary care physician (PCP) and referrals to specialists. Cost-effective for structured healthcare approach.
PPO
More flexibility in choosing providers. See specialists without referrals, both in-network and out-of-network. Higher premiums but wider choices.
EPO
Similar to PPOs with lower premiums. No out-of-network coverage except emergencies. Balance between cost and provider choice.
POS
Combines HMO and PPO elements. Requires PCP and referrals but allows out-of-network providers at higher costs.
Key Insurance Terms
Deductible
The amount you will be responsible for before an insurance provider will cover portions of any expenses. Some policies will offer copays prior to meeting a deductible for routine visits ( Primary Care, Specialists, Mental Health, Blood Work & Urgent Care ).
Out-of-Pocket Maximum
This is the maximum amount you'll have to pay in a year for covered healthcare services. Once you reach this limit, your insurance pays 100% of covered medical expenses. It's a crucial factor to consider, especially if you have chronic health conditions or anticipate significant medical costs. Policies without an Out of Pocket Max are not recommended as you will be left vulnerable to major medical bills.
Key Health Insurance Options
High Deductible Health Plans offer lower premiums but higher deductibles and work well for generally healthy individuals. Pairing an HDHP with a Health Savings Account lets you save pre-tax money for medical expenses. Catastrophic plans have low premiums and high deductibles, protecting you in worst-case scenarios, mainly suited for young, healthy people.

I never felt rushed or confused—she explained everything clearly and answered all my questions with care. I spoke to several advisors before her, and none came close to the level of service she provided. If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares and makes things easy, Gabriela is the one. Highly recommend 10/10!
